For Your Prayers

We are deeply saddened to inform you that the father of Lyric, our pre-k student,  passed away on Saturday after a battle with cancer. Please join us in keeping Lyric and her mother Meritt  in your prayers during this difficult time.

The Funeral Service for Kevin Carlberg will be on Wednesday, September 2 at 1:30 pm at Good Shepherd Church. Our preschool will be closing at 12:00 p.m. in order that we may attend the service.

Thursdays are “Share Days”

This year we will have “Show and Tell” sharing days in class every Thursday. If your child would like to bring in something to share with the class, please make sure that it is not a live animal or weapon, and that it is appropriate for class. Your child should also be ready to talk about his or her item in circle time. Thank you!

Happy Birthday Alejandro!

On Friday, August 28, we celebrated Alejandro’s birthday. The class enjoyed the delicious cupcakes brought by his mom.  Thank you! 🙂

First Day Photos!

Here are some photos of our first day of preschool. We all had a great day!

First Day of School: August 26, 2009

Welcome!

We look forward to seeing you on our first day.

Preschool parents are allowed to park in front of school during pick up and drop off times.  (Please read the signs carefully. Wednesday is the street cleaning day and parking may not be permitted.)

Parents are welcome to stay with their children until 11am on the first week of school.  Children can be signed in from 7:30am. Please arrive no later than 8:45am. Remember that the first week dismissal is at 12:30. Please send a lunch if your child is staying past 11am.

Before Wednesday August 26 all students need to have their medical and licensing forms turned in to the preschool office. A current negative tb-test is necessary to start on the 26th. If you have any questions please contact me, Petra Hellstrom, preschool_director@goodshepherdbeverlyhills.com or leave a message at (310) 275 – 8601, ext 106.

Please make sure you bring to school the following supplies sometime during the first week:

All students need to have a set of clean clothes in their cubby at all times including:

  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Pants (preferably dark blue, but any dark color is acceptable)
  • T-shirt (gray or white)
  • A blanket for naptime (will be sent home weekly for wash)

Adeste Afterschool Childcare 2009/2010

We are pleased to announce that beginning August 26,
2009, on the first day of the new school year, Catholic
Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. will be sponsoring the
Adeste After School Care Program for Good Shepherd
students in grades Pre-K – 8.

The Catholic Charities Adeste Program is a program
licensed by the State of California to provide after-school
child care from the end of regular classes until 6:00 PM
Monday through Friday when school is in session.

For those parents or guardians who do not need regular
daily child care, Adeste also has a “drop-in” service on
an “as-needed” basis.

The program includes homework time, as well as
indoor and outdoor supervised activities.
Additionally, a snack will be furnished to the children
daily.

If you are interested in enrolling your child(ren) in the
Adeste program, please g
o to the school office for a
Parent/Guardian Handbook a
nd a Parent/Guardian
Contract
.  Please review them carefully and return the
signed contract on or before the first day of school,
August 26, 2009.
This is extremely important, as we
need to have an accurate number of enrolled children
to be able to determine the number of staff persons
that we need to have to comply with student/teacher
ratios mandated by law.

If you need additional information about the Adeste
Program, please contact Ms. Elizabeth Soriano at
310.392.8701.
