Dear Parents,

February has been a fun month in many ways.  Thank you for helping us celebrate our birthdays (Ms. Franco and Ms. Hellstrom), both with cake, card, flowers and gift. It was greatly appreciated from both of us.

Some of the things happening have been:

Mr. Alamillo, Isaiah’s dad, came to visit and told us about his job delivering mail in our neighboorhood. Yesterday a dentist, Dr. David S. Nikfarjam, came by to show us how to brush our teeth. Both Mr. Alamillo and Dr. Nikfarjam left gifts for us to take home.

Mrs. Sebastiani, Vanessa’s mom, showed us how to make pasta yesterday. That was a lot of fun. We also danced with Ruddy in the eight grade classroom. The eight graders were impressed.

Thanks for all your support!

Love,

Ms. Hellstrom, Ms. Franco and Mrs. Meyer

Humpty Dumpty Project

On Friday, February 20th  we will be conducting an experiment in  Pre-k. Its an experiment that the children have been wanting to conduct since we first started learning the “Humpty Dumpty” Mother Goose Rhyme, can we piece humpty dumpty back together again?!?! Why couldn’t the all the kings horses and all the kings men put Humpty Dumpty together again?

We will need two egg shells from each student to conduct this experiment. One to decorate As Humpty Dumpty and one both decorate, to fall off the wall, and try to piece back together. No hard boiled eggs please, just two washed egg shells. Thank You in Advanced! This should be really interesting and  fun!

Friday, February 13th

On Friday February 13th children may dress in Valentines Day Colors (Red, Purple, white or Pink) !

Valentine’s Day Celebration

On Friday, February 13th we are celebrating Valentine’s Day. Students are asked to bring one card for a card exchange.  A list of names is sent home to help you get started. You can purchase cards or be creative and make your own. There are 18 students in the class, 8 boys and 10 girls. Your child needs to bring 17 cards to participate. The cards need to be filled out before they are brought to school.

This is a good writing experience for the children, please help them pace it and write a few cards each day. Remind them to write as neat as they can since they are giving the cards away, but remember that we just started writing letters and mistakes such as reversed letters are accepted. Parents can also assist in the writing. For some, writing their own name is a challenge.  Have fun!!

Love, Ms. Hellstrom, Ms. Franco and Mrs. Meyer
