The Three R’s- Reuse, Reduce and Recycle

Dear Family,

Tomorrow is Earth Day and our class is beginning an exciting Science unit on reducing, reusing, and recycling. We will be learning how to conserve our natural resources and protect the earth. We will also be exploring and investigating recyclable products and trash decomposition. Many of our investigations involve trash items that you may have at home. If you can send any of these items to class with your child, we would greatly appreciate it.

• Empty cans

• Pizza boxes

• Milk and egg cartons

• Six pack plastic rings

• Cardboard tubes

• Styrofoam meat trays

• Film canisters

• Wide-mouthed glass jars with lids

• Paper and plastic cups and plates

• Plastic bottles

• Liquid soap bottles

• Empty food containers

• Margarine containers

• Fabric scraps

Our study of the three R’s, reduce, reuse, and recycling will be fun and exciting for everyone. Thank you in advance for being a part of your child’s learning experience.

Sharing From Home

Spring is here and we have been talking quite a bit about gardening in pre-k. Please share a picture of your home garden or any other garden you may like, favorite flower, and  some fresh flowers for our  class (you don’t need  to spend any money on fancy arrangements,  a flower from your garden will be just fine.)

If you could also bring in some seeds that produce a fruit or veggie that would be very helpful !

Thank you

-Ms. Franco =)

Welcome back!!

On Monday, April 20, we are returning from Easter break. We hope  you all had a great vacation.

Earth Day is on Wednesday, April 22. On this day we will help clean our school yard. During this week we will talk about reuse, reduce and recycle. We need magazines to cut pictures of items that are made out of paper, plastic or aluminium. Please bring some to school if you have any at home.

Dear Pre-K Parents,

Normally I would not encourage participation in activities by a company like Pizza Hut. However, this program will provide more children in our country access to literature. As we all know literacy and reading is a life skill everyone need to master to be successful in our world today. Pizza Hut’s BookIt! program provides access to books for more children. If we were not off on this day we would do something in our classes… Please help other children get access to quality literature! (Follow the links below to find activities you can do at home.)

Have fun reading!

God Bless,

Ms. Hellstrom
